PUNGRA

Certify with Pungra

Continuing professional development for instructors who already hold Exercise To Music Level 2 and want to teach Punjabi music in their classes. Ten modules and an assessment, plus a practical video, about 2 hours in all.

Please note: the Pungra instructor certification is currently undergoing endorsement. This course will be updated once endorsement is confirmed.

Why certify with Pungra? What the certificate is worth, and how it compares.

Pungra instructors certify to fitness-industry standards. We recommend completing Introduction to Dance-Fitness and Dance-Fitness to Punjabi Music first, then working through these modules.

  1. Module 1: Before you teach

6 minutes. This is continuing professional development for instructors who already hold Exercise To Music Level 2. Make sure the basics are in place before you lead a class.
  2. Module 2: Why certify with Pungra?

7 minutes. The Pungra Instructor Certification is a bolt-on to a respected fitness qualification, not a replacement for one.
  3. Module 3: Applying Exercise To Music principles to Punjabi music

10 minutes. You already know cueing, adaptations and safe class management. This module shows how to apply them to Punjabi music.
  4. Module 4: The Pungra way of teaching

8 minutes. Pungra is a workout set to Punjabi music, without an audience. How you teach should keep it that way.
  5. Module 5: Safety

9 minutes. A good class is a safe class. Safety starts before the music does.
  6. Module 6: Representing the culture accurately

7 minutes. You are teaching exercise to Punjabi music, so you are also an ambassador for the culture it comes from. The same standard applies to everyone.
  7. Module 7: Music: choosing, crediting and licensing

7 minutes. Choose music you are licensed to play, credit the people who made it, and use Pungra’s own music with The Music Licence.
  8. Module 8: Filming, privacy and safeguarding

6 minutes. Pungra classes are sometimes filmed so the techniques can be shared. People have a right to know and to say no.
  9. Module 9: Make your own videos

20 minutes. Watch the examples, then record your own. Use your own words, not a script.
  10. Module 10: Certification and keeping going

5 minutes. Certification is the start, not the end. Keeping your skills current is part of being an instructor.
  11. Assessment

23 questions, about 14 minutes. Check what you have learned and get feedback on every answer.
